We are delighted to announce the return of the Little Van Gogh residency, which will run from 16th – 23rd August 2024

The Little Van Gogh residency is an opportunity for an artist to take time away from their usual environment to experience a new one. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of the New Forest National Park, it is our hope that this residency will inspire fresh ideas and thought processes, offering the artist creative freedom to further explore and develop their practice.

What’s included?

  • A beautiful dedicated live-work studio space for one week.
  • £500 award.
  • Up to £100 contribution travel expenses.
  • Daily contribution of £30 towards food sundries etc.
  • Access to a bicycle for the duration of the week.

How to apply

Eligibility

Applicants must be a Little Van Gogh artist and have work in exhibition with Little Van Gogh at the time of their application. You must be willing to share your experience of the residency in an interview after it has taken place.

Selection Process

An expert panel of art professionals (including curators, artists and gallerists) will review all of the applications. The judges decision will be final.

How to Apply

Our hope for this residency is that it will spark new ideas and direction for an artist by bringing them into a new environment and providing them with a space to develop and explore their practice.

We ask that artists have a rough plan in mind for their stay. The application will ask for the building blocks of a project, with the understanding that it may change or evolve.

To apply, fill in an online application form and tell us about your work, your creative practice and your intended project, along with uploading images of your work.

The closing date for all applications is 28 April 2024.

“With no interruptions I focused exclusively on what I wanted. The experience will feed into anything I do moving forward.”

Little Van Gogh Residency 2019 winner Peter Corr

“Having my application selected is such a huge compliment. There is no one path to being an artist, so it’s reassuring that other people could see value in what I was proposing. Having a week to be more playful, whilst still moving forwards has given me a lot of confidence. I’m very thankful for the opportunity.”

Little Van Gogh Residency 2022 winner Nicola Wiltshire

“Thank you Little Van Gogh for awarding me this opportunity. It’s something I’ll never forget.”

Little Van Gogh Residency 2023 winner Claire Chandler

WE LOOK FORWARD TO RECIEVING YOUR APPLICATION!
